So today I am testing out my blog page! :-P This is where I'll be writing some "short" notes (we'll see about that) and hopefully posting some pictures and videos while I'm in Uganda! Internet will be choppy... so no guarantees on regularity, but I hope to post about once a week when I can get access.
Right now I am working on the logistics of the trip. Just reserved my plane tickets. I will leave August 9th and arrive in Entebbe, Uganda on the 11th. I get to spend an entire day in London on the way there!! I guess people usually aren't excited about 12 hour layovers, but I am thinking positively and optimistically will say that that means I'll get to wander around the streets of London for a while. (I have heard some less optimistic reports saying I may have to carry my gigantic suitcases around or that I won't be able to get out of the airport or find my way to the city... but I remain optimistic) Might as well start looking on the bright side now, when I'm not washing my hair with a mug of water, eating goat, and wearing skirts all day (if you know me at all... you know that that may be the toughest part :-P)
Anyway... things are coming along. Long way to go, but we'll get there... Fundraising is probably about halfway there at this point... although expenses keep coming up! So I may be increasing that budget. But people have been SO helpful so far... thank you a TON for your support.
(the link to donate is https://www.cvmusa.org/SSLPage.aspx?pid=1630 then find "Heidi Judd" under Designation in case you'd like to know! :-P)
My body has officially been convinced that it has contracted... let's see... polio, Hepatitis A, rabies, and Yellow Fever... so I should be over that by the time I get there. :-P
Working on my visa now... and lots of other paperwork kind of stuff... Can't wait till it's all done!
Thanks again for all your support!

I had long layovers in Singapore and Hong Kong when I went to Sri Lanka. I think we left our suitcases in a locker or something in the airport. They should have something in the London airport. As far as getting around, if you're in the Heathrow Airport, the tube has three stops there. You can use that to get around. The Gatwick airport has buses and a train that take you into the city. I'll send you an email with tourism suggestions. I am your London go-to.

I second what Danielle said.
ReplyDelete1. Ashley: Thank you!!! I will look into that stuff in your email :)
ReplyDelete2. Danielle: I knoooow :/ but... it's the best I got! I will be with you in spirit.
3. Hannah! So it doesn't say your actual name... but I googled Ghillie Girls... and... HAHA... Irish dance! Therefore, I know who you are! (I mean... it does make sense based on the comment, but still... I felt smart for figuring it out :P) And same as I said to Danielle... I will be with you in spirit! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you both. LOVE YOU
This is brilliant! I pray your trip goes sweatlessly well and that you return in good health (what with all those vacinations ;P). Stand firm on His promises.
